Hocking College ID Card

Your Hocking College ID card is used to verify your status as a student, faculty or staff member. Student IDs are validated by registration. Staff IDs are validated based on Human Resources records.

ID Cards can be obtained or replaced at the ID Office, John Light (JL) 154.

Services that require a valid ID card include:

  • Library materials check-out
  • Recreation center memberships
  • Dining halls in JL, vending machines (where available) and campus convenience stores
  • Meal Plans
  • Building access in some locations
  • Faculty/Staff e-mail activation and password resets
  • Bookstore, as proof of identity when making any transactions involving financial aid, refunds and returns, buybacks or other

Where do I get my ID Card?

Incoming students will be issued ID cards as part of their orientation. Faculty, staff and returning students will need to bring some form of photo ID to the ID Card Office. ID cards can be obtained or replaced at the ID Office, JL174. For more information, call 740.753.7050

What do I do if my ID card has been lost or stolen?

In the event an ID card is lost or stolen, the ID Card Office, located in room JL174, should be notified immediately by calling
740.753.7050.

If the loss of your card occurs during evening or weekend hours, you should contact Hocking College Police at 740.753.6598. They can deactivate your lost card and or make other arrangements to issue a temporary card.

Lost cards are frequently returned to the ID card office and will be returned to the card holder upon the card holder's request in person at the ID Card Office.

What do I do if my ID card has been broken or is worn out and unusable?

Cards that need to be replaced due to extended use or age will be re-issued at no cost as long as the defective card is turned in upon issuance of the new card. A $25 replacement fee applies for cards that have been lost, stolen, or damaged due to neglect or abuse. Replacement cards will be prepared for students only upon proof of current enrollment.

What if my I get married or change my name or title?

Identification cards that are invalidated by name changes (marriage, etc.), change in identification number, or a change of academic or administrative title, will be replaced at no cost with the return of the old card.

Students must first provide proof of the changed information through the Registrar's Office, before the ID Office will replace their ID card. Employees must first provide proof of the changed information through Human Resources, before the ID Office will replace their ID card.

How do I get a replacement ID Card?

In the event an ID card is lost or stolen, the ID Card Office, located in room JL174, should be notified immediately by calling 740.753.6463. If the loss of your card occurs during evening or weekend hours, you should contact Hocking College Police at

Do I need to get a new ID card every year?

No. You only need to get a new ID card if it is lost, stolen, or no longer works.

If my card needs replaced, do my unused meals transfer over to the new card?

Yes. Any dollars or meals, already loaded on the card, will automatically be transferred to the new card.

Can I punch a hole in my ID?

Yes, some cards will have a designated punch mark to follow or as long as you don't damage the magnetic strip.

Will it hurt my ID if I store it with other credit cards? Will that erase data from the magnetic strip?

No, but contact with a cellphone, TV or computer monitor might damage the magnetic strip.

If I don't like my ID picture, can I replace it?

Yes, pictures can be updated; charges for a new card replacement will apply.

Could I receive my replacement ID in the mail or have someone else pick it up?

No. You must appear in person for identification purposes.
